Milwaukee, Wis. – Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. is pleased to announce that attorney Tim Trecek was awarded the Tommy Malone Outstanding Verdict Award by the Litigation Counsel of America.
The Tommy Malone Outstanding Verdict Award has been established for annual presentation to a plaintiffs’ lawyer or law firm and recognizes a trial verdict of an extraordinary nature, whether in the magnitude of amount or significance of the underlying law and facts presented. The award-qualifying verdict may be the result of either a bench or jury trial. Nominations are evaluated by the Tommy Malone Outstanding Verdict Award Selection Committee and are not limited to the Fellowship of the Litigation Counsel of America.
Trecek’s 2020 verdict of $38.16 million awarded by a Racine County jury is the largest single plaintiff compensatory verdict in Wisconsin history. The verdict was obtained for injuries caused by a defectively designed driver’s seat in plaintiff’s 2013 Hyundai Elantra.
“The award committee reviewed a significant number of verdicts for this annual recognition and concluded Tim’s accomplishment to be noteworthy for not only its amount, but also for establishing meaningful facts that will result in changes benefiting society,” said G. Steven Henry, Executive Director and General Counsel of the LCA. “Tim is an immense legal talent whose career and reputation reflect the award’s namesake, legendary Georgia lawyer Tommy Malone.”
In addition, The Wisconsin Association for Justice honored attorney Tim Trecek with the 2020 Robert L. Habush Trial Lawyer of the Year award at their President’s Reception on December 3, 2020. This is not the first time Tim has been recognized with this award. He previously won the award in 2011 and is one of only two individuals (HHR President Dan Rottier is the other) to have been honored twice.
